FontGenix Mobile App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the FontGenix mobile application for Android handles information. It is written to be read on its own β€” you do not need to read any other policy to understand what the application does.

Scope of this Policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the FontGenix mobile application for Android (package name com.fontgenix.app), distributed through Google Play.

It does not describe the FontGenix website. The website is covered by a separate policy at fontgenix.com/privacy-policy. The two are kept apart because their data practices genuinely differ: the website serves advertising through Google AdSense, uses browser cookies and local storage, and includes a contact form, none of which apply to the application.

  • The app generates styled text on your device.
  • The app has no user accounts and no sign-in.
  • The text you type is not sent to FontGenix servers.
  • The app's own code makes no network requests for its generation features β€” the network is used by the Google Mobile Ads SDK, and to open links you tap.
  • The app shows banner advertising through Google AdMob, which is a third party that does process information. This is described in detail below.

Information FontGenix Collects

FontGenix does not operate a server that receives your information from this application. Specifically, the application does not ask for, collect, or transmit to us:

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses
  • Account credentials β€” the app has no account system
  • The text you type or the styled text the app generates
  • Contacts, photos, videos, audio, files, precise location, calendar, or microphone data

Text generation is performed entirely by code running on your device. What you type stays on the device unless you choose to copy or share it yourself.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The application saves a small amount of data on your device so that it behaves consistently between sessions. This is stored using the operating system's standard app-storage mechanism (AsyncStorage). It is not cloud storage, it is not synchronised between devices, and it is not transmitted to FontGenix.

The information stored locally is limited to:

  • Favourite styles, and favourite emoji, kaomoji and symbols
  • Recently copied styles, emoji, kaomoji and symbols
  • Saved creations you have chosen to keep
  • Your theme preference (light or dark)
  • Your language preference
  • Your haptic-feedback preference
  • Whether the introductory walkthrough has been shown

You can remove this information at any time by using the reset option in the app's Settings screen, by clearing the app's data through your device settings, or by uninstalling the application.

Advertising β€” Google AdMob

The application displays banner advertisements on the Explore and Settings screens using Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK).

It is important to distinguish between two different things:

  • FontGenix does not receive, store, or have access to the information described below. We are not sent your advertising identifier, your IP address, or your ad interactions.
  • Google AdMob and its advertising partners may process information in order to provide, measure, personalise, and protect advertising. According to Google, this may include information such as advertising and device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from that IP address, device and technical information, and information about interactions with the app and with the ads shown.

This processing is carried out by Google as a third party under its own terms. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services in the Google Privacy Policy and at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

You can review and adjust Google's advertising settings, including resetting or deleting your advertising identifier, through your device settings and through Google Ads Settings.

Advertising Consent and Privacy Choices

The application uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), included with the Google Mobile Ads SDK, to handle advertising consent where it is required.

  • Where required for your region, the app requests consent information when it starts and presents Google's consent form before advertising is initialised.
  • Your choice is recorded and applied by the Google Mobile Ads SDK.
  • Where the SDK indicates that a privacy options control is available for you, the app shows an Ad privacy options entry in Settings so you can revisit and change your choice. This entry is not shown where Google does not make that option available.
  • Your choice may affect whether the advertising you see is personalised. Ads may still be shown when personalisation is declined.

This describes what the application does technically. It is not a statement that any particular legal requirement is met in your jurisdiction.

Permissions

The application requests only the permissions it needs:

  • Internet access β€” required so that advertising can be requested, and so that links you tap can open in your browser. It is not used to upload the text you type or the styles you generate.
  • Vibration β€” used for optional haptic feedback, which you can turn off in Settings.

Some storage-related permissions may appear on the Google Play listing because they are declared by standard Expo and React Native components that the app is built on. The application does not read your photos, videos, audio files, or documents, and contains no code that accesses them.

The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, precise location, SMS, call logs, or health data.

Links to External Websites

Some parts of the application open web pages in your browser β€” for example, the language-specific font generators open fontgenix.com.

Once you leave the application, this policy no longer applies. The FontGenix website is governed by its own Privacy Policy, and any other website you reach is governed by that site's own practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.

No User Accounts

The application does not require you to create an account, register, or sign in. There is no username, password, or profile associated with your use of the app.

Because no account exists, there is no account for us to delete and no account-deletion request process. The section on removing your data below explains how to remove the information the app stores on your device.

Data Retention

  • Information stored on your device remains there until you clear it, reset it from within the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the application.
  • FontGenix does not maintain user accounts or a database of user-generated content for this application, so there is nothing retained on our side.
  • Google AdMob retains and processes information according to its own policies, which are linked in the advertising section above. We have no control over those retention periods.

Removing Your Data

Information stored on your device: open the app's Settings screen and use the reset option, or clear the app's storage through your device settings (typically Settings β†’ Apps β†’ FontGenix β†’ Storage), or uninstall the application.

Advertising data held by Google: use your device's advertising controls to reset or delete your advertising identifier, and use Google Ads Settings to manage ad personalisation. Where the app shows the Ad privacy options entry in Settings, you can also change your consent choice there.

Children's Privacy

FontGenix is a general-audience text-styling utility. It is not directed to children, and it is not designed or marketed for use by children.

FontGenix does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through accounts, forms, or its own servers β€” the application has no account system through which such information could be provided. The application does use Google AdMob for advertising, which may process information as described in the advertising section above. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, please contact us using the details below.

Your Rights in the EEA and the UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, data protection law gives you rights over personal data relating to you, including rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability.

These rights are exercised against the party that actually processes the data:

  • FontGenix does not receive personal data from this application and does not hold a profile, account, or record relating to you. We therefore hold nothing to provide, correct, or erase. You may still contact us with any question about the application.
  • Google, as the provider of AdMob, processes advertising-related data as described above. Requests concerning that data should be directed to Google, whose privacy policy and controls are linked in the advertising section.

Where consent is the basis relied on for personalised advertising, that consent is collected through Google's consent form as described above, and you may withdraw or change it where the privacy options control is available.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.

  • FontGenix does not collect personal information through this application, does not sell personal information, and does not operate its own advertising profile of users. We hold no personal information to disclose, delete, or correct in relation to the app.
  • Google AdMob may process information for advertising purposes as described in the advertising section above and under Google's own privacy practices. How that processing is classified under California law, and any opt-out that follows from it, is governed by Google's own disclosures and controls.
  • Advertising personalisation can be limited through your device's advertising settings and through Google Ads Settings.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled through the application and our services. Because the application generates text on your device and does not transmit that text to us, there is no FontGenix-held copy of your content to secure.

Information handled by Google AdMob is protected according to Google's own security practices, described in its privacy policy. No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Third-Party Services Used by the Application

The application uses the following third-party services:

  • Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) β€” banner advertising. Google Privacy Policy
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) β€” advertising consent management, provided as part of the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

The application does not include Google Analytics, Firebase, Google AdSense, Sentry, Crashlytics, or any other analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting service.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the application or to the services it uses. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect in a released version of the application, where practical.
